Conceptual design for a bespoke 100m yacht intended for global transoceanic exploration which included the capability to traverse through frozen waters as an icebreaking vessel. BHA sought to combine the best in naval tradition with functional clarity and seaworthiness while providing the highest degree of hospitality and comfort to travelers and crew.
The exterior of the yacht expresses its strong monocoque structure as a singular skin puncuated with oversized ‘porthole-type’ openings. A giant retractable overhead canopy made of technical sailcloth modulates privacy and shading of the outdoor decks.
The vessel is a sculptural object with various indoor and outdoor spaces “carved” into its robust exterior skin that lend themselves to a variety of uses during any weather conditions; from polar, to temperate, to tropical.
